Can laptops or iPads be borrowed?

Due to required quarantine and cleaning protocols, the Library cannot loan laptops or iPads at this time; this applies to all campus libraries.

University ITS maintains a modest pool of devices that are available to students for participation in their online courses. Students may borrow an iPad for the semester. Students who require more computing power (e.g., to access and run specific software), can borrow a laptop for up to one week, although extensions are permitted where justified and if the equipment is available. Students can initiate a loan through ITS by submitting a general help support request at

Individual regional campus IT departments do not have laptops to loan.

The Homer Babbidge Library on the Storrs Campus has begun to offer longer term laptops that circulate for 7 days rather than just four hours. Laptops can be charged out at the iDesk on the Plaza Level.

IMPORTANT: These items are paid for by the University of Connecticut's Student Technology Fee, and may only be checked out to currently enrolled UConn students. All equipment loans are subject to overdue fines and replacement costs. Borrowers are subject to fines and replacement costs for items that go missing for any reason.
